Roots is quietly the most surprising room on property
Roots Coastal Kitchen looks on paper like the resort's American option, and the beach-club framing does it no favors. Read the credit line more carefully. That policy tells you what Palio is: the room in the community for a long, quiet, wine-forward dinner. If Iguanas is the family Sunday, Palio is the Friday night after the kids are with the sitter.
Amaya is the one to watch
Amaya is described by the resort as a modern cocina Española experience, authentically inspired, locally sourced, and coming soon. No opening date has been made public. Worth putting on the "call ahead in September" list.
The Vault gives the property a nightlife room
The Vault is inspired by the rhythm and romance of Copacabana's heyday, a dazzling escape into a world of live performances and handcrafted cocktails. Residents who used to drive into Condado for live music now have a shorter version of that night at home.
The morning that goes with the meal
The other thing residents get that visitors don't is proximity to El Yunque, and the current-year access rules matter more than the marketing copy suggests. Do not assume the pandemic-era reservation system is still in place.
- Reservation status. Entrance to the El Yunque National Forest recreational corridor on PR 191 North in Río Grande is free and no reservations are required. Operating hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Parking is the constraint. Visitor capacity is being managed due to parking limitations and to ensure the public's safety during ongoing construction work throughout the forest. Parking is permitted only in designated areas.
- Do not plan on rideshare for the way out. La Coca gate and El Portal Rainforest Center are not authorized drop-off or pick-up points for rideshare mobile transportation services, and visitors are often forced to walk hours when leaving the forest because these apps do not mark a valid pick-up point.
- Bring water. The forest is rebuilding its water system, there is no potable water available, and you must bring your own or purchase from authorized concessions.
Practical read for a resident: leave the community by 7:30 a.m., be at the gate close to opening, spend two to three hours on the corridor, and be back at the Rio Mar Clubhouse for a late lunch at Iguanas with the River Course and forest canopy in the window. Richie's Restaurant is at Road 968 Km 2.0 Rio Grande, next to the Rio Mar Wyndham Grand Resort, and is open Monday through Friday 11am to 9pm. It is the answer when you don't want to change clothes.

The point is not that the resort has "great restaurants now." The point is that ten separate rooms, each with a distinct chef, have been programmed to let you have a different kind of night five nights in a row without leaving PR-968.
